CPF Medisave Claims

Using Medisave for Dental Treatment

MediSave is a national healthcare savings scheme that helps CPF members pay for approved medical and dental treatments. Depending on the type of treatment and your eligibility, you may be able to use either MediSave or Flexi-MediSave to reduce your out-of-pocket dental expenses.

At TSD Dental Group, all our clinics are MediSave and CHAS accredited, and our team will advise you on the available claim options before treatment

Which MediSave Scheme Applies to You?

There are two different MediSave schemes available for eligible dental treatments.

CPF MediSave (Medisave accredited clinics) Flexi-MediSave (CHAS accredited clinics)
For approved surgical dental procedures For selected outpatient restorative dental treatments
Available to eligible Singapore Citizens, PR who are CPF members Available to eligible Singapore Citizens aged 60 and above
Claim amount depends on the procedure performed Up to $400 per year for eligible treatments

CPF MediSave for Surgical Dental Procedures

If you require certain oral surgery procedures, you may be able to use your MediSave to offset part of the treatment cost. Examples of approved procedures include:
  • Wisdom tooth surgery
  • Placement of dental implants
  • Bone grafting
  • Sinus lift
  • Jaw surgery
  • Biopsy
  • Surgical removal of cysts or tumours
  • Gum grafting
  • Crown lengthening
The amount claimable depends on the type and complexity of the procedure, as well as the prevailing MediSave withdrawal limits.
If you do not have sufficient MediSave savings, your immediate family members (such as your spouse, parents or children) may be able to use their MediSave to help pay for your treatment, subject to CPF regulations.

NEW – Flexi-MediSave for Seniors

From 1 June 2026, eligible Singapore Citizens aged 60 and above can also use Flexi-MediSave to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses for:

  • Root canal treatment to save infected or inflamed tooth
  • Permanent crowns to restore damaged or weakened tooth

Eligible patients can use up to $400 each year under the Flexi-MediSave scheme, subject to Ministry of Health guidelines and annual withdrawal limits.

If you’re unsure whether you qualify, our team can check your eligibility before treatment begins.

Not Sure Which Scheme Applies?

Every treatment is different, and the available claims depend on the procedure being performed and your eligibility.

Before treatment starts, we’ll explain:

  • Whether your treatment is claimable under MediSave or Flexi-MediSave
  • The estimated amount that can be claimed
  • Any remaining out-of-pocket payment
  • The documents required for your claim

Our goal is to help you understand your options so you can proceed with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Flexi-MediSave for a root canal treatment and dental crown?

Yes. From 1 June 2026, eligible Singapore Citizens aged 60 and above may use Flexi-MediSave for approved root canal treatment and permanent crowns performed at participating CHAS dental clinics and public healthcare institutions, subject to the Ministry of Health’s prevailing guidelines and annual claim limits.

Is the $400 available every time I visit the dentist?

No. The $400 refers to the annual Flexi-MediSave withdrawal limit, not the amount that can be claimed at each visit.

I’m 58 years old. Can I use Flexi-MediSave?

Flexi-MediSave is available to eligible Singapore Citizens aged 60 and above. If you’re below this age, our team can advise whether other subsidies or MediSave schemes may apply to your treatment.

Can my spouse use my Flexi-Medisave account for her dental treatment?

Singapore Citizens aged 60 and above can use up to $400 per year under Flexi-Medisave for eligible procedures, using their own Medisave or their spouse’s Medisave. For the latter, your spouse will need to be aged 60 and above too.

The $400 withdrawal limit applies to each patient per year, regardless whose MediSave account is used.

Will Flexi-MediSave pay for my entire treatment?

Not necessarily. Flexi-MediSave is intended to help reduce your treatment costs, but it may not cover the full fee. Any remaining balance will need to be paid by the patient after applicable subsidies and claims have been applied.

Thinking about treatment?

If you’ve been advised to undergo a root canal treatment or need a permanent crown, don’t let the fees stop you from seeking care.

Our dentists can assess your condition, explain your treatment options and help you find out whether you’re eligible to use Flexi-MediSave. We’ll also provide a clear estimate of your fees before treatment starts, so you’ll know what to expect.
